World TB Day
"The purpose of this day is to raise public awareness of the devastating health and socio-economic consequences of this disease. It also aims to intensify action to end the global tuberculosis epidemic. This date corresponds to the day in 1882 when Dr. Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacillus that causes tuberculosis, and thus made it possible to consider diagnosing and curing the disease." 1
